Medical assistants are the new heroes of the decade! According to the Labour Bureau of United States of America, these professional are in huge demand and by the end of 2018, the country’s big brains are projecting a requirement of 163900 more medical assistants; a steep increase of 34 percent. Below are some interesting facts that are extracted from a discussion on Medical Assistant Training program that was aired a few weeks earlier:

Interviewer: A 34 % increase is projected; this is a fact or just hype?

Expert: At any point, it is not at all hype. Have you noticed the sharp increase in United States’ population and the drastic changes in birth and death rate ratio? With the advancement in science and technology, we have delayed death to an extent, but the side of effects of the situation is, we are exploding with higher number of senior citizens. The number of Baby boomers who are getting older is increasing and so as the demand for their medical and health care is. We need hospitals, doctors and of course medical assistants for them.

Interviewer: What these medical assistants do and how can one get into this career?
Expert: The name states itself, to assist doctors with daily routine work and beside those pre and post medical procedural preparations; they do some bookkeeping and administrative jobs as well. It is just because of their presence, that a doctor concentrates on patient in a better way because these trained assistants have mitigated doctors’ workload.

As far as qualifications are concerned, these assistants must have done at least high school, after which, they can join a medical assistant training program offered by the technical and vocational institutes around the town. The more one learns the more one earns, so qualifying a short-term course can get you a job, but to earn higher, you need to obtain a degree-level qualification in the respective field.

Interviewer: Why should one choose medical assistants as a profession?
Expert: You tell me any profession, which can guarantee you a fix income within 6-12 months of training and that too with a long lasting career.

Interviewer: Why do a medical assistant must learn computers?
Expert: Nowadays, most of the healthcare facilities and hospitals use advanced technology equipments, patient care machines and computers on networked infrastructure. All the records, bills, communication and medical histories of the patients are maintained and stored on computers. Therefore, one must be proficient with computers and technology.

Interviewer: Can you suggest any good institution that offers the training within the budget and under one roof?
Expert: I must say, if you are financially challenged and looking for financial aids or if you want to assure your internship and job placement after the medical assistant training program.
